Baby Steps...

Well, Jackson has begun taking steps!! I got to babysit him last Friday evening, and I had him up at the hardware store with me til close before we went home...but, while there Mitzi, one of my friends and co-workers was holding him upright, and I bent down and opened my arms and he took 5-6 steps to me all by himself!! What an amazing moment! I've seen him take 2-3 steps but not so many at one time!! I was so proud and excited all at once. Of course then I got bummed cause he's growing up WAY too fast, but its so much fun seeing him grow and smile and start saying words! It won't be long and I'll be hearing "Auntie Em! Auntie Em!" lol ok I can dream can't I??

As for me and my baby steps, I'm getting there...My room is VERY slowly getting cleaned up and organized the way I'm wanting it. I got the paint mixed up today...it's a really pretty pale yellow color. I promise to have pictures up once the room is done and new furniture is put in. Just waiting on my check to go get a nice new bed and a few other furniture pieces for my room too!! Well, just got the phone call, gotta do a favor for mom!

Remember this 4th of July, that there are LOTS of families that are without their loved ones who are out fighting this war and ensuring our freedom. Regardless of your view on the war, on our president...pay homage to those families. They are people too, and they had the guts to stand up and say they'll fight for our country, cause our country deserves it. Take a few minutes out of your time this weekend and say thank-you to them. And if you see a vet, thank them for their sacrafice...for service members and their families know the true meaning of what it is to sacrafice.

I feel like...

a burden. I know I know I'm injured and not listening to the restrictions the Army gave me will only worsen my condition a lot faster than it will in the long run, but I really feel bad always having to either page or ask someone else to do all the heavy lifting here, they have other work to do as well. Guess thats another motivator for me to go back to school and finish my degree so that I can get into a job that I won't have to worry about lifting at all and no one will have to cover down for me either! just wanted to share. Happy Monday! Hope you all are having a great start to another blessed week that God has given us!

loving life

Well Genoa Days has come and gone once again, and for some silly reason I didn't take barely any pictures this year! But I do have a few so I'll be posting them as I get them uploaded...for some reason my laptop doesn't agree with mom's wireless network, so I'm having to use her laptop til we get something better worked out which is causing the delay in uploading pictures, but I'll get them up, promise! Here's a few from the parade at least!!!!

The big duck in the background...yeah thats my MOM!!!!!

Loving life, fighting the battles

Hello all! Things are slowly getting better, its a day to day battle.

I'm rejoicing in the fact that I no longer need to take my sleeping meds to help me sleep, but with that comes the fact that my pain levels are higher without the medicine, but I believe its the best for me right now. I can still function even though I'm in pain daily, and mom and Leslie are very forgiving when I need to sit down a moment to give my back a rest. Everyone is helping accomodate me in my limitations and even though its frustrating once we all get comfortable in my limitations it'll be just fine!

Tuesday is my last official day as a Soldier, I turn in my ID card either on tuesday or wednesday, whichever day I can get onto a post and get a new ID card made up for my healthcare, I'm covered fully until December, how sweet that is! lol just gotta find out where I go should I need to see a doctor..lol!

My support system has never been stronger, I have loved ones surrounding me with their encouragment and are here to listen and ask how I'm coping with the change and listening to me complain when I'm not having such a great day. I love it!

I've started going to the young adult break out group at church and I love it!! It's really pulling some negativity out of the events that happened to me and really helping me work through them to really find the Emily that I know is in here somewhere. Praise God that He still walks with me even when I've turned my back on Him so many times, He still opens His arms and allows me to come back home. We couldn't be more blessed with a Father like that!!

I guess thats it for now! Genoa Days is this week, my most favorite time of the year!!!

Let the new adventure begin...

So, I started working this weekend! Yesterday was rough, but we were short handed so we really didn't have much time at all to train me, today went SOOOOOO much better, and let me tell you, I'm a pro at doing the fishing licenses...lol! So, if you wanna go fishing come see me, I'll get your license made up!! I'd be lying if I said this last week was easy. Because its been anything but that. But it'll get better, I always bounce back! I've started weeding through my things that I had stored in the basement here at mom's, seems as though I'm more willing to part with things I wasn't willing to part with before! Found some wonderful surprises...like a handwritten note from Grandma, and my famous Chicken Hat!!!

Other than that just enjoying the summer! I went fishing with Jeff on Saturday, that was pretty awesome, I didn't catch anything but seaweed, and two old lines that had been cut that were full of seaweed, but it was still WONDERFUL to sit outside, not worry about burning, and enjoy the peacefulness of the pond!

Tonight I'm off to the first young adults group at my church, I'm really excited for it, and I am looking forward to spending more time back at my church!!! I got to see my Pastor today, it was really nice! I guess thats all to update for now, Jackson is doing amazing got to see him for a few minutes this morning, what a ham, he's so cute!
